A Message From Principal Hand

Welcome to Fridley High School! My name is Patty Hand and I am the head principal at FHS.  As I begin my seventh year as head principal, I am thrilled to serve as a member of this caring community whose focus is to support success for each student.  I believe strongly in leading a culturally responsive community of learners, in which students, staff members, and families collaborate to support our climate to ensure it is a caring, inclusive community for all.  This belief will anchor all my work and will focus all ideas, thoughts, and decisions made in the best interest of our students.

Our community is centered around iBelong. We strive to make sure Fridley High School is the Best Place to Learn and the Best Place to Work.

We value the gifts brought by each member of our community and focus our school climate around iBelong: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Real.  These are our expectations, as we are all responsible for a positive, safe, welcoming climate for all of our students, our staff members, our families, and our community.

To give you a bit about my background, I began my career as an English teacher for many years at Park Center High School, in the Osseo School District.  I later became a dean of students at Fridley High School for one year, then moved to St. Michael-Albertville High School to work as their assistant principal for two years.  I transferred to the Hopkins School District and, over eight years, served in the roles of assistant principal, associate principal, and five years as the head principal at Hopkins High School.

We know that this past school year was very challenging for our school community.  I am so excited to see our students again and welcome them back as we return through relationships.

I am happy to serve as the head principal at Fridley High School and look forward to working with your students this school year. Go Tigers!
